Throughout his career, Picasso was always reinventing himself, he revolutionized the forms and academic aesthetics through several art mediums. Throughout his impressive 78-year career, he had produced an average of 65,000 artworks – including paintings, sculptures, prints, ceramics, to theatre design. Imagine Picasso pays tribute to the genius and the freedom of Picasso’s creations.
Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron have created Imagine Picasso in collaboration with art historian Androula Michael and one of the leading figures of the new French architecture movement, Rudy Ricciotti.
With more than 200 of Picasso’s paintings shown together for the first time—from his Blue and Rose periods on through Cubism and the prolific later years—Imagine Picasso offers an unprecedented dialogue between Ricciotti and one of the greatest painters of the 20th century.
Ricciotti was inspired to create this spectacular scenography from the paper sculptures Picasso made for his children. The paintings, projected onto nine full-blown Origami-style structures, offer a unique and novel perspective on the work of Picasso.
Enhancing the immersive experience, the projections are accompanied by music from Picasso’s contemporaries, Satie and Ravel, and other contemporary composers allowing guests to escape reality and step into the mind of Picasso.
