Announcing Harbour Hopper Rentals: A Smarter, More Sustainable Way to Travel Vancouver’s Seawall

April 1, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VANCOUVER, BC – [April 1, 2025] – As Vancouver prepares to welcome a global audience for World Cup 26, a new transportation solution is set to redefine how visitors and locals navigate the city’s iconic waterfront. Launching Spring 2026, Harbour Hopper Rentals were designed to ease congestion along the Seawall while offering a fun, efficient, and sustainable way to move between key destinations.

With the expected influx of fans during the World Cup, Harbour Hoppers provides a fast, car-free alternative to reaching BC Place, fan zones, and major attractions without adding strain to roadways and public transit. These inflatable, human-propelled pods will allow users to “hop” from one station to another, eliminating the need for vehicles and reducing pedestrian and bike traffic along the Seawall.

“Major events like the World Cup bring incredible energy to the city, but they also create transportation challenges,” said [Royce Chwin, President & CEO of Destination Vancouver]. “Harbour Hoppers provides an easy, efficient, and emission-free way to get around, and is a perfect fit with Vancouver’s active outdoor lifestyle.”

How It Works

Harbour Hoppers offers a seamless and user-friendly experience. Riders can locate a Hopper at any of the docking stations along the Seawall, unlock it by scanning a QR code via the mobile app, and propel themselves forward along designated Seawall lanes. Upon reaching their destination, they dock the Hopper at the nearest station to complete their ride.

With affordable, pay-per-minute pricing (CAD $3.00 unlock fee + $0.25 per minute), Harbour Hoppers offers a cost-effective alternative to rideshare services and taxis, which will be particularly beneficial during high-traffic events like the World Cup.

A Strategic Transportation Solution for World Cup 2026

With a network of nine key docking stations, Harbour Hoppers connects spectators to major venues and gathering points, including:

  • BC Place Bounce Base: Direct access to the stadium for match days.
  • Olympic Village Hop Hub: Quick access to Vancouver’s brewery district for post-match celebrations.
