Vancouver has been named one of the healthiest cities in the world for several years, including its latest ranking early last year. Vancouver snagged the fifth spot for “Healthiest City in the World” by Travel Supermarket.

Whether visiting Vancouver for a wellness specific vacation, or in the city on business and looking to kick back and relax, Vancouver has a lot to offer for the mind and the body.

ACCOMMODATIONS WITH WELLNESS PROGRAMS

In June, The Westin Bayshore was able to expand upon its Move Well program, with the opening of the Just Add Water Yoga studio that overlooks the stunning Marine Garden. The Just Add Water Studio acts as a space for guests to challenge their mind, body, and spirit to stay calm beneath the surface of the ever-moving ocean of life. The studio includes a variety of classes, including their move well yoga class, barre essentials, restorative yoga, meditation made easy, and more. For more information, click here.

The Fairmont Pacific Rim provides wellness in the most luxurious way. Willow Stream Spa and Fairmont Pacific Rim have recently launched the Fountain of Youth, a unique wellness journey that takes guests to new heights with an exclusive heli-glacier experience and locally designed spa retreat at Willow Stream Spa. The adventure includes a helicopter glacier tour with Blackcomb Helicopters through the Coast Mountains to the Tantalus Mountain range, landing atop a glacier. Guests will be treated to a gourmet picnic featuring locally and sustainably sourced foods. Once back in Vancouver, guests will indulge in a complementary namesake body treatment at the Willow Stream Spa.

ACTIVITIES

It is easy to stay healthy in Vancouver. The Vancouver Seawall is a 28km long uninterrupted seaside pathway that extends from the Vancouver Convention Centre, around Stanley Park, False Creek, and all the way to Spanish Banks Park. The Seawall is good for walkers and joggers and is most conveniently conquered by bicycle. North Vancouver has the North Shore Mountains, good for hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, and much more. The newly renovated Shipyard Commons includes a 12,000 square foot free public skating plaza in the winter that transforms into a family-friendly water park in the summer.

DINING

The city’s food industry holds these principles to a high standard and are always striving to create healthy, sustainable, and locally sourced options. Vancouver is packed with restaurants that pay homage to the 100 Mile Diet including Burdock & Co, Forage, Fable, Royal Dinette, and the Farmer’s Apprentice. There are also plenty of vegan and veggie-forward restaurants in the city including The Acorn, Chickpea, The Naam, Nuba, and MeeT.
