Hit the slopes and savour the views
Snow is rare in the city, but spectacular skiing and snowboarding are just a short drive from downtown Vancouver.
1,000+ acres
of skiable land across 3 mountains
The city’s premier hills, Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain, and Mount Seymour, are unique ski resorts, offering invigorating runs and unbelievable skyline views.
Look out to the wonder-invoking twinkling cityscapes in the evening as you carve through pristine snow. Be so close to the ski hills that you can have an invigorating ride during the day and go out clubbing, cheer at a sporting event, or enjoy a world-class meal at night in the heart of the city.
Experience the rush of nearby mountain resorts
Grouse Mountain is the closest hill to downtown – just a 15-minute drive up from the Lions Gate bridge on the edge of Stanley Park. Taking public transit on Grouse Mountain is also an option, with the SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay and the #236 bus for a 25-minute ride to the mountain.
If you’re heading to Grouse, try for an evening visit, as the mountain offers the most spectacular views of the illuminated city at night.
Mount Seymour is popular for locals from East Van as the hill is just a quick ride from the cafe-line streets of Commercial Drive to the powdery North Shore hill. The vibe is relaxed, but the rides are exhilarating, with stunning views to match.
Seymour is easy to access via transit as the mountain offers regular shuttle buses during winter. Catch the shuttle from Parkgate Community Centre in North Vancouver or opposite the Rupert SkyTrain Station in East Vancouver.
For more skiing terrain and city views, visit Cypress Mountain to access 600 acres of diverse ski terrain and majestic views of the Howe Sound. The resort, just a 30-minute drive from downtown, is known for its well-groomed cross-country trails, extensive runs, and modern amenities.
To access the hill from downtown, take the SeaBus to the Lonsdale Quay and connect with the Cypress Mountain Express Bus for pick up and drop off.
With lifts opening in the morning and several runs open until 10 pm, you can seek your thrill any time of day on the local hills.
