U-Pick Berry Farm Tips
- Dress for the weather. Berry farms are open rain or shine so pack accordingly. Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, and water for sunny days and a rain jacket and rain boots for wet days.
- Know what’s in season. Strawberries are usually available in June and early July. Raspberries are ripe in late June and early July. Blackberries and blueberries are ready in July and early August. Call ahead or check farm websites for up-to-date availability.
- Visit farm websites to find out if you can bring your own containers or if you must use provided containers.
- These are working farms – dogs aren’t allowed.
- Freshly picked berries are best kept in the refrigerator and eaten immediately. You can also freeze them to eat later in the year.
