It’s no wonder Grouse Mountain is a coveted venue among film and TV crews – the multifaceted attraction boasts epic views of the Pacific Ocean, Coastal Mountains and the lush topography of Vancouver and surrounding Gulf Islands… and all just 15 minutes’ drive from the city’s downtown core. Cast and crew from productions ranging from Arrow, Luciferand The X-Files to Okja, Shooterand the original MacGyver have flocked to the mountaintop playground to capture dramatic backdrops, playful wildlife and atmospheric nature shots.
Visitors to the attraction not only have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of their favourite productions, but can also easily spend an entire day exploring all Grouse Mountain has to offer. Here’s a snapshot of what you can look forward to at Grouse Mountain in the summer:
Skyride Surf AdventureNorth America’s largest aerial tramway system is your gateway to reaching the summit of Grouse Mountain – but adventurers don’t have to stay inside. The Skyride Surf Adventure invites guests to climb on the tram’s roof (safely strapped in, of course) and soak in the sensations of cool breezes and warm sunshine as a guide points out key landmarks far below. What a rush!
Mountain Zipline Adventure Prepare for a shot of adrenaline! Grouse Mountain’s dual-line ziplines provide guests with birds-eye views of peaks, canyons and B.C.’s old-growth forests, all while flying through the air at speeds reaching 80km per hour. Tip: stay mindful and soak in the moment – this heart-pumping adventure lasts two hours, but zips by fast!
Lumberjacks Everywhere! A favourite among locals and visitors alike – and it’s not hard to see why – Grouse Mountain’s epic Lumberjack Show showcases the champion antics of some seriously talented lumberjacks. The 45-minute spectacle is a fast-paced adventure featuring log rolling, a 60-foot tree climb, axe throwing and a gasp-inducing springboard chop. You definitely don’t want to miss it!
Adorable Grizzly Bears Grouse Mountain’s wilderness sanctuary is home to Grinder and Coola, two bears fiercely loved by Vancouverites and visitors alike. The two were rescued from hard times, and now enjoy a leisurely life playfighting, swimming in the pond and grinning at visitors. Those who want to spend an entire morning with these cuddly teddies can book a Breakfast with the Bears experience, which includes early Skyride access, a bear feeding demo and a delicious breakfast at the Grizzly Lookout Café.
New Aerial Ropes Adventure In August 2018, Grouse Mountain will launch yet another adventure activity to titillate guests – a treetop aerial ropes course. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the mountaintop forest on a series of four courses that pose challenges like suspended bridges, ziplines, ladders and nets. The experience is suitable for explorers ages eight and up; kiddies between the ages of three and eight can tackle the Kids Tree Canopy Adventure, which consists of treehouses, slides and ground games.
