Everything You Need to Know About Skiing Near Vancouver in Winter 2022/23

The first flakes of snow have hit the mountains, which means ski season is around the corner! Here is everything you need to know about skiing at six ski resorts near Vancouver in winter 2022/23.

Mount Seymour

Located in North Vancouver, this resort is a local’s favourite. It has 4 terrain parks and 40 runs, 13 of which are lit up for night skiing.

Opening date: December 9, 2022

Reserve a four-hour time slot on weekends and holidays: To ensure short lift lines, book a four-hour time slot for skiing and snowboarding on weekends and holidays. There are time slots every hour and they include parking.

3Ski Passes: Locals can save up to 40% on skiing with a 3Ski Pass. It lets you ski three times on weekdays or evenings after January 3, 2023.

For non-skiers: Mount Seymour has a network of easy snowshoe trails, plus a snow play area with tubing and tobogganing.

Grouse Mountain

This North Vancouver ski hill is known as the Peak of Vancouver and has been around since 1926. It has 6 terrain parks and 33 ski runs. Fifteen of them are lit for night skiing.

Opening date: TBA (likely late November 2022)

New handle toe in Side Cut Park: Skip the chair lift and use the brand-new 260-metre-long handle tow to access up to 20 features in the Side Cut Terrain park.

For non-skiers: Skate on the mountain-top pond, wander through the snowy light walk, go sledding, or tackle the snowshoe trails.

Cypress Mountain

West Vancouver’s Cypress Mountain hosted some of the ski and snowboard events at the 2010 Winter Olympics. It has 53 ski runs with 22 open for night skiing.

Opening date: November 12, 2022

Book in advance: All lift tickets must be pre-purchased online. You can book full-day or afternoon-only tickets.

Sky Cards: Save up to 20% with 1, 2, 3, or 5 full-day lift tickets on a pre-loaded Sky Card. It also gets you discounts on rentals, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and the tube park.

For non-skiers: Wander through the snowshoe trails, try cross-country skiing, hit the tube park, or visit at night for the enchanting Lights to the Lodge snowshoe walk.

Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler’s world-famous ski resort has over 200 marked runs and 4 terrain parks. Thanks to the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola you can easily transition between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain, which sit side-by-side across Fitzsimmons Creek.

Opening date: November 24, 2022

Limited lift tickets: To keep lift line waiting times low, lift ticket sales are limited. Buy tickets in advance.

For non-skiers: Take a scenic ride on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola or zoom down the slopes at the bubly Tube Park.

Sasquatch Mountain Resort

This family-friendly community resort is located near Agassiz in the Fraser Valley. Explore 36 ski runs, night skiing, and a terrain park.

Opening date: December 17, 2022

Book in advance: All lift tickets must be pre-purchased online.

For non-skiers: Explore challenging snowshoe trails high on the mountain or mellow routes in the valley bottom. Or ride the tubes at one of BC’s largest tube parks.

Manning Park Resort

Located a short drive up Highway 3 from Hope, Manning Park Resort’s interior climate ensures they get lots of snow on their 34 ski runs.

Opening date: December 3, 2022

Book in advance: You can reserve rentals and lift tickets online, but a limited number of walk-up rentals and lift tickets will be available depending on resort capacity.

For non-skiers: Go ice skating, explore the huge network of cross-country ski trails, strap on some snowshoes, or hit the tube park.
