Brand New Chilliwack Sunflower Festival Opens to the Public Late August
If you’re looking for the perfect new profile picture or if you just really want to enjoy nature and surround yourself with beautiful sunflowers… we have exciting news for you!
A brand new sunflower festival is coming to the Fraser Valley this year, a short drive from Vancouver. Opening for the first time later this month, the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival will be run by the same organizers who created the massively popular Tulips of the Valley.
The first annual Sunflower Festival will be opening for public strolls beginning on August 22 at 41310 Yale Road in Chilliwack. Hopefully it won’t be forced to close like a Sunflower farm in Ontario that was overrun with massive crowds causing major traffic delays. With the experience of the Tulip Festival under their belts, it’s unlikely that something like that will happen here!

For the first annual Sunflower Festival in the Vancouver area, there will be over 15 different varieties of sunflowers to enjoy over 3 acres. The flowers include a giant Mammoth sunflower that can reach heights of 12 feet and taller!
There are also 1.5 acres planted in a cut flower orange variety which will reach heights between 5 and 6 feet. The fields are completed with an acre of show garden with 15 different varieties of different heights, colours and bloom sizes for visitors to enjoy.
While there will certainly be some true flower lovers, the festival organizers are aware that many of those taking the drive from Vancouver will be looking for the perfect backdrop for a new Instagram photo.
So, rest assured that there will be various photo and video opportunities on-site—including swing sets, an operational windmill, a vintage bicycle, and selfie spots. On weekends, the Rotary Club of Chilliwack Fraser train will offer by-donation rides throughout the fields.

There will also be lawn games available, including Yardzee, bolaball, giant Jenga, tic-tac-toe, and checkers, among others. And of course, you’ll be able to enjoy cold drinks, ice cream, and local food trucks.
You are also welcome to bring along your dogs as furry friends are welcome: a drinking area and complimentary pick-up bags will be available.
The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival runs from August 22 to September 16 on Monday to Thursday (10 a.m. to sunset) and Friday to Sunday (open 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset). Tickets will be available for purchase online.
