12 Places to Try Disc Golf Around Vancouver

Have you tried disc golf yet? It’s a fun, low-cost sport that’s easy to try. Depending on who you play with, it can be a laid-back day at the park or a super-competitive challenge. With 12 disc golf courses around Vancouver, there’s sure to be one near you.

Disc Golf Basics

Also known as frisbee golf, disc golf is similar to regular golf in that players try to get their disc into the holes in the least number of throws. But in disc golf, the targets are a standing basket, not a hole.

You also don’t have to reserve a tee time or pay green fees to play disc golf. Most courses are first-come, first-served, and free. Be sure to learn about course etiquette before you go. Play in groups of 4 or less. Wait your turn at each tee. Watch out for other players and other park users before you throw.

If you just want to try it, you can use a regular frisbee. But it’s really worth investing in some dedicated golf discs. They are smaller and heavier than regular frisbees, so they can fly longer distances. Most disc golfers carry three discs: a driver, a mid-range disc, and a putter.

Jericho Hill, Vancouver

You’ll find this short, 9-hole course in front of the Jericho Hill Centre in Point Grey. The hilly layout provides great views of the city.

Quilchena Park, Vancouver

This large park on the westside of Vancouver has a 12-hole disc golf course around its perimeter. Many of the shots are tricky, with lots of trees.

Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver

Located on the east side of Queen Elizabeth Park, the compact 9-hole Little Mountain Disc Golf Course is popular on sunny days. You’ll need accuracy for most of the holes, especially the final one that requires a shot over a pond.

Rockridge School, West Vancouver

This simple 6-hole course is located on the grounds of Rockridge Secondary School in West Vancouver. The wooded course is great for beginners.

Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver

If you take the gondola up to Grouse Mountain during the summer months, a round of disc golf is included with your Mountain Admission ticket. You can buy discs on site too. The 18-hole course traverses the open slopes of The Cut ski run. More info.

Eastview Park, North Vancouver

If you’re up for a challenge, tackle the tricky 9-hole disc golf course in Eastview Park. The shots are short, but the many trees require accuracy to get around.

Robert Burnaby Park, Burnaby

This nine-hole course is hidden away at the lower end of Robert Burnaby Park. The wooded course has a few open fairways and a pretty stream running through the middle. More info.

Mundy Park, Coquitlam

Coquitlam’s Mundy Park has a 9-hole disc golf course on the west side near the outdoor pool. The small course is perfect for beginners who aren’t used to long drives yet.

Langley Passive Park, Langley

Located in the Brookswood neighbourhood, Langley Passive Park has a big 18-hole disc golf course. Each hole has two or three tees, which makes it a great course to play over and over again. More info.

Raptor’s Knoll Disc Golf Park, Langley

Opened in 2019 and built by volunteers, Raptor’s Knoll was recently named one of the best disc golf courses in the world. The championship level course has multiple tees at each hole to accommodate both beginners and experts. More info.

Winskill Park, Tsawwassen

Tsawwassen’s Winskill Park has Canada’s oldest disc golf course, built in 1976. The nine-hole course can be played in the original par 27 layout, or in one of 35 different variations. More info.

Thornhill Park, Maple Ridge

The hilly and forested 14-hole course in Thornhill Park suits disc golfers of all abilities from beginner to experienced, since there are three different tees per hole. More info.
