“I KNOW HIM!” Buddy The Elf isn’t the only Santa enthusiast who would shout with glee at the sight of Scuba Claus swimming alongside his favourite aquatic friends at the Vancouver Aquarium.

Come for the Claus, and stay for the aquatic-themed holiday festivities that light up Vancouver’s favourite tourist destination. Here are some of the ways you can dive into the holidays with some festive underwater fun.

Scuba Claus

You’d better watch out, cause Scuba Claus is coming to town – but only until Christmas Eve, because the jolly old man has some work to do!

Visitors of all ages love waving at the man in red as he dives deep into the waters of the Wild Coast and Strait of Georgia exhibits at the Vancouver Aquarium. If you’re lucky, he may even give you a high five through the glass! Catch Scuba Claus during one of his daily dips – check the schedule before you plan your visit.

*Scuba Claus dives daily from November 24 to December 24.

Eel-lectric Lights

Catch this shockingly cool display as the Aquarium’s resident Amazonian electric eels light up a Christmas tree powered only by their incredible electricity-producing bodies. Learn all about how and why these fish can produce electricity, and find out how many eels it takes to light one fully-lit Christmas tree during the daily Eel-lectric Lights show.

The Polar Express 4-D Experience

Throughout the holidays you can catch a 20-minute rendition of the holiday favourite – The Polar Express. Sit back and feel the rumbling of the train, the cool snowflakes as they fall on your face, and the sweet smell of hot cocoa as you climb aboard this magical 4-D experience. Check the full schedule for daily viewing times.

Dazzling Winter Decor

Stroll through the Pacific Canada gallery and enjoy a light show comprised of origami jellyfish. Guests can control the mesmerizing display using a touchpad that lights up the jellies in a rainbow of colours.

In the Teck Engagement Gallery, guests can check out the towering Christmas tree made entirely of marine debris, a piece created by Tofino artist Pete Clarkson.

Enjoy family programming, holiday crafts, and more at the Vancouver Aquarium from now until January 2, 2017.
