Do you want to build a snowman? Well if you do, you’d better hurry! For the first time in 20 years, Vancouver has been blanketed in snow for an extended period of time, but the fluffy white stuff is about to see its final days. If you’re looking to create your own Olaf, or simply snap a stunning photo in the snow before Spring arrives, here are some close-to-downtown spots on Vancouver’s North Shore where you can do just that.

Deep Cove, North Vancouver

Doesn’t Deep Cove look serene as it sits beneath the snow? This spot is a snap-worthy destination any season of the year, but draped in snow, Deep Cove looks simply spectacular. This is a great spot to enjoy a short stroll by the water, snap selfies in the snow, and then pop into a neighbouring coffee shop for a winter warm-up.

Seymour Demonstration Forest, North Vancouver

Only minutes from Deep Cove and approximately 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, the Seymour Demonstration Forest offers beautiful walking trails, including one that encircles Rice Lake. While this is a popular spot to hike and bike during the Summer months, it’s just as picturesque during the quieter off-season days. Stroll along the fishing dock and breathe in the fresh air, and read about some of the historical landmarks that line the trails along the way.

Catch a shuttle bus up to the top of Vancouver’s biggest ski and snowboard resort, and ski the slopes or simply take in the view. Visit on Friday, February 17th and enjoy Friday Family Fun Night, including fire pit & s’mores, a family pizza night, and priority parking close to the hill for families visiting by car. Only 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, this is the perfect spot to snap photos in the snow.

Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver

Only a 20-minute drive from downtown Vancouver, Grouse Mountain is the ideal place to play in the snow, or watch it from afar as you ride up the Skyride (North America’s largest aerial tramway) to the “peak of Vancouver”. Skate, slide, ski, snowboard, shop, or just sit back and relax while you enjoy a delicious meal at The Observatory while gazing at the Winter wonderland that sits below.
