This weekend people around the world will be celebrating Earth Day, an annual event held on April 22nd of each year, with the purpose of demonstrating support for environmental protection. Since its inception in 1970, Earth Day has become a globally-recognized occasion, with 192 countries around the world participating in spreading the message of environmental and climate literacy through various events.

Vancouver will be hosting events in and around the city in honour of Earth Day, including parades, parties and festivals for all to enjoy. But if you’d prefer to nod to Earth Day from an indoor venue, we’ve got you covered. Here are 3 ways to celebrate Earth Day indoors with your kids in Vancouver.

1) Shop for a Canadian-made souvenir at the Make It Show

Head to the PNE Forum in Vancouver for one of the largest craft fairs in Canada! Stroll through over 65,000 square feet of space where you can shop the handmade goods of over 200 exhibitors who are selling accessories, jewelry, clothing, artwork, candles, and more – all handmade with love by local “Makies” (artists, designers, and makers from all over Canada). Shop consciously and support Vancouver’s local business community while picking up one-of-a-kind, handmade keepsakes.
