Vancouver’s CandyTown Fun For Sweet Tooths Of All Ages

Imagine. A fantasy land of sweet treats, holiday music, festive characters and fun for the family. Perhaps not practical to live here full time, but how about for one magical day?

Yaletown’s CandyTown festival returns for its fifth year, on Saturday, November 26th. Considering last year it attracted some 15,000 folks – we’d say that it’s a big hit, wouldn’t you?

Fun stuff. The Canada Line Station becomes the North Pole where Santa awaits, and appearances by the Ice Queen are rumoured to happen. Since this is fundraiser for B.C. Children’s Hospital, they suggest a $5 donation if you would like a photo with either.

The Candy Hut is hosted by the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and kids can try craft and candy making, or get in on face painting and balloon animals. New and especially timely this year is the Pokémon Holiday Tour.

CandyTown loves the kid in you, even if you’re all grown up, so slide into a seat at the OPUS Bar for a CandyCane martini for a little break from the crowds. Horse-drawn carriage rides are fun for cuddly couples or families, and at 15 minutes long and a suggested donation of $2, can’t be beat for shaking off your Scrooge and getting into the spirit.

Other Christmasy fun? Grab your tree at Yaletown Rotary Club Christmas Tree Lot, some lunch from one of the onsite food trucks or any of the Yaletown eateries offering holiday treats. . Shopping too can happen at the “All I Want for Christmas” gift market with everything from jewellery to pet accessories on offer.

CandyTown is from noon to 7pm on Mainland Street, is free, and loads of holiday fun.
