Vancouver’s outdoor mural scene continues to grow each year, largely thanks to the Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF), an annual event that takes place each August.
The festival kicked off this month with new murals and daily events, all leading up to a massive Mountain Pleasant Street Party and concert on August 10.
Outdoor art tour
There are well over 100 murals around Vancouver that are open for viewing and this handy printable map gives you an idea on where you can find each one.
If you prefer a guided tour, reserve a spot in one of the many VMF walking tours that are available free or by donation! Each tour takes about 1 hour and will guide you through Vancouver’s largest display of public art.
These tours showcase the colourful transformation of the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood while connecting you with artists visions and behind-the-scenes stories.
Party down
On the final day of the festival, the annual Mount Pleasant Street Party takes over 14+ blocks of traffic on and around Main Street.
This hugely popular, free event features live art, beer gardens, music concerts, a new family activity zone, markets, street dance battles, graffiti jams, and of course: 25 brand new works of public art.
Everything else
There are still four days left to enjoy all of the events taking place during the festival from tattoo flash events to a guided run sponsored by MEC, there’s absolutely something for everyone!
