Vancouver International Burlesque Festival 2016 announced
With half-naked Stormtroopers among this spring’s big ticket items, it only makes sense that the 2016 Vancouver International Burlesque Festival has announced its lineup. Although we’re not sure if any kind of Star Wars burlesque is on the agenda, the VIBF does have some interesting entertainment lined up.
This year, the festival is divided into two events. The International Cabaret (May 6) features performers from around the world. Vancouver Uncovered (May 7) features some of the best local burlesque practitioners. Both male and female dancers are appearing, along with a burlesque legend.
The International Cabaret features world class burlesque talent from all over the world. According to the evening’s Facebook page, ticket-buyers can expect “everything from classic showgirls bumping n’ grinding in feathers and rhinestones to nerdcore strippers delivering cheeky comedy and satire!”
Betsy Bottom Dollar and Bastard Keith are hosting. Headliners are New York-based performance artist Julie Atlas Muz and English actor (American Horror Story: Freak Show) Mat Fraser.

Both shows are at the Vancouver Playhouse (600 Hamilton St.). Following each show, there is also an official VIBF after-party at Studio Records (919 Granville St.).
VIP tickets are also available. These include a reserved seat in the first or second row for The International Cabaret, a VIP gift, admission to the after-party AND access to the VIP Loft with complimentary champagne, shots and snacks.
