The lineup for the 2017 Khatsahlano Street Party has just been announced.

Now in its sixth year, the family-friendly one-day event takes place in Vancouver’s Westside, on West 4th Avenue from Burrard to MacDonald on Saturday, July 8th from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Along with Vancouver-based headliners like The Zolas and Louise Burns on no less than six stages, partygoers will have access to more than 50 food trucks, assorted activities for all ages, and some of the summer’s best people-watching – just blocks from the beach. Here are a few of the musical highlights.

Jody Glenham – Local singer/songwriter who fronts a band called the Dreamers. She’ll be playing a set of lush, atmospheric pop along the lines of this song, “RSVP.”

Art d’Ecco – Art d’Ecco released an acclaimed debut, Day Fevers, last year, and ended up opening for Midge Ure (Ultravox, “Do They Know It’s Christmas”). Motown rhythms and ’80s synthpop combine to form a perfect union of danceable weirdness.

The Orange Kyte – The “y” in “Kyte” gives it away – these guys play psychedelic pop. Check them out on The Orange Kyte bandcamp page.

D.O.A. – Anyone who’s ever even had a passing acquaintance with punk rock knows of Vancouver’s hometown heroes D.O.A. As per one of their album titles, the nearly 40-year-old band (they formed in 1978) is “bloodied but unbowed,” and promises to bring their butt-kicking anthems to stir things up.

The Courtneys – One of Vancouver’s premiere pop bands, The Courtneys will unleash huge amounts of big-time summer fun with pop gems like “Silver Velvet.” Last year, the trio became the first band outside of New Zealand to sign with kiwi label Flying Nun.

The festival commences with the First Nations blessing to honour the man who gave his name to the area and our event. For more info visit khatsahlano.com.
