One of Vancouver’s most unique shopping markets has found a new, permanent location inside the once-decrepit Ellis Building located near Main & Terminal in East Vancouver. The Eastside Flea is a “modern day flea market” that has taken place across the city at various venues (including the Wise Hall), events (including the Food Truck Festival), and universities (including UBC).

The market is inspired by the Brooklyn flea market culture and brings a diverse mixture of vendors into one location. Past markets have had local vendors hawking vintage clothing, crystal jewelry, delicious smelling candles, animal skulls, collectibles, leather goods, and artisan food.

After roving the city in various locations, the Eastside Flea has finally settled itself down at Main & Terminal (fairly close to its much bigger brother, the Vancouver Flea Market). And after a huge renovation, the location is finally ready to open with a highly-anticipated grand opening event this weekend to celebrate.

On Friday, April 15 the market will be hosting an evening of shopping, socializing, and a sneak peek of the new space. But if you’re just in it for the shopping, you can head to the Ellis Building (1024 Main Street, Vancouver) on Saturday & Sunday for a full market experience.

From 10am – 4pm there will be 50+ vendor booths, 5 artisan showrooms, Tacofino Tacos, an outdoor area, and the chance to get your favourite denim jacket custom embroidered on the spot. Could this market be any more hip?!

For $3 (or $5 for a weekend pass) you’ll get access to an amazing source for local goods that you won’t be able to find at any old mall. Think: rarities & memorabilia, paper goods, handcrafted jewelry, records, succulents, locally-made body care, and more. You’ll also get a peek into artist studios to see what exactly goes on behind the craft.

Plus, you’ll get to check out the amazing Ellis Building (built in 1907) that is a 10,000 square foot historic Vancouver gem that has been transformed into one of the most unique arts & culture venues in the city. Not only is it the new home to the Eastside Flea, but 14 artist studios, community workshops, demos and much more!
