The 2017 Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival Features 61 Fun Flavours!
When it’s cold outside one of the best ways to warm up is with a delicious cup of cocoa. If you’ve got a craving for a “warm hug in a cup” you’re in luck! The 7th annual Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival is coming back from January 19 – February 14 at various locations throughout the city.
The almost month-long festival makes it easy to give you a chance to check out all of the hot chocolate inspired drinks. For the 2017 Hot Chocolate Festival, there will be 29 cafes participating and over 60 fun flavours for you to try!

When it first launched in 2011, the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival was the first city-wide festival of its kind in the world. Now, it’s returning bigger and better than ever, with Vancouver’s best chocolatiers, pastry shops, bakeries, cafes, gelato and ice cream makers coming together to make the humble hot chocolate hotter than it has ever been.
What does this year have in store for you? Here is just a sample of some of the interesting flavours that are available from participating locations:
“PRETTY IN PINK”
Valrhona Ivorie White chocolate with rose oil, vanilla and freeze-dried raspberry.
Served with vanilla shortbread.
Available: February 1 – 14
Served at Bel Cafe
“ARCTIC ICE”
This yerba buena-inspired white chocolate drink, cools with an infusion of fresh mint, peppermint oil and a pop of frozen mint truffle.
Served with Chocolate Peppermint Biscochitos.
Available: January 19 – February 14
Served at DoughGirls Comfort Kitchen
“CHAGA MUSHROOM HOT CHOCOLATE” (Vegan/Organic/Gluten-free/Nut-free)
Decadent and healthy vegan hot chocolate with super foods such as immunity-boosting chaga mushroom, macs, coconut butter and cacao paste, and sweetened with maple syrup and dates.
Served with a Salted Caramel Crème Truffle from North Vancouver’s Zimt Chocolates.

Served at Eternal Abundance on Commercial Drive
“TALKING DIRTY WITH SUN GOD”
Black olive dark hot chocolate with lime and chili.
Served with a piece of 74% Crunchy Parmesan Toffee Chocolate Bark.
Available: January 19 – 22

If you’re feeling really keen on trying as many flavours as possible, the Hot Chocolate Festival has prepared a walking map PDF, so you can do your own hot chocolate crawl! Most of the locations are found in Kitsilano and Downtown Vancouver.
The 2017 Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival runs from January 19 until February 14. Some flavours are only available for a select amount of time, so make sure to check the official website before you head out to a cafe.
