This week’s roundup of what’s shooting in Vancouver sees a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. And fears.

There’s an action-thriller feature, a psychological thriller, and a military drama TV series. But there are also some laughs are coming our way with a remake of a 1970s family comedy TV series. And along with all of that are some big names coming to town.

So let’s take a look at who’s who and what’s what in Hollywood North this week.

The thriller Dragged Across Concrete kicks into production today (July 17) and continues until September 16.

Olivia Munn recently shot The Predator in Vancouver but she’s joining the cast of another locally shot production.

This crime drama, directed by S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk), stars Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn as a pair of cops whose aggressive tactics are captured on a video that goes viral, which results in the duo being suspended.

With little other options, the two men set off on a mission into the criminal underworld, but find themselves facing more than they expected.

Gibson and Vaughn previously teamed up on the 2016 war movie Hacksaw Ridge—albeit as director and actor, respectively.

Things are equally gritty on the home screen side of things, as the military drama Six starts shooting Season 2 today (July 17) and continues until November 23.

This action-oriented drama series relocated from North Carolina to Vancouver for its second season. It focuses on the attempts of U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan.

When they discover a U.S. citizen working with terrorists and their leader is captured by Boko Haram, they have to figure out how to deal with these unexpected challenges.

Some new cast regulars will liven things up.

In news announced on July 11, we found out Olivia Munn will be going fresh from her gritty role in The Predator, which was recently shot in Vancouver, to joining the cast of Six as a CIA operative.

Another new cast member will be Eric Ladin (The Killing), who will play a loose cannon from another squadron who joins the team.

Elsewhere in the city, on Friday (July 21), the feature film Motivated Seller wraps up, having started on June 21.

In this psychological thriller directed by Deon Taylor (Meet the Blacks), a young couple (Michael Ealy and Meagan Good) find their dream home in the country.

But since some things are too good to be true, they discover that the house’s former owner, played by Dennis Quaid (Soul Surfer), doesn’t want to give it up quite yet—and he’s willing to fight for it. Literally. Yikes.
