Filming in Vancouver: Deadpool 2, Neil Patrick Harris, Raquel Welch, Sandra Oh, and more
While all eyes may have been turned to Hollywood last night—with that little known ceremony otherwise know as the Academy Awards—there are some notes of interest of what’s shooting in Hollywood North’s screen scene.
Among them are confirmed dates for when the Merc With the Mouth and Count Olaf return to our West Coast metropolis. There are also revealed casts for two TV series, and a Canadian production kicks off today.
First off, although production for Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch (John Wick), was originally set to start on May 1, the action blockbuster sequel has been rescheduled to start shooting in Vancouver on June 19 and continue until September 18.

Aside from Ryan Reynolds reprising his lead role, the rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet. So we’ll have to wait to see which mutants or superpowered characters will show up in the hyperviolent storyline—as well as which actors will be playing them.
Stay tuned for announcements in the near future.

Another production returning to town for a part two in the near future will be the Netflix TV series A Series of Unfortunate Events, which will start filming Season 2 on April 17 and continue until April 20, 2018.
The black comedy stars Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, who sought to claim the family fortune of the Baudelaire children he is charged with caring for after the death of their parents.
The cast of Season 1 also included Patrick Warburton as narrator Lemony Snicket.
Malina Weismann, Louis Hynes, and Presley Smith played Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire respectively, who attempt to figure out the truth behind the secret society their parents were connected to.

Speaking of TV series about families, when we previously reported that the TV series Date My Dad had started shooting its first season, its cast hadn’t been announced.
The series will star Barry Watson (Samantha Who?) as Ricky Cooper, a father who became a widow when his beloved wife died.
As a single father, he continues to raise his three daughters, played by Zenia Marshall (Summer of My Dreams), Lilah Fitzgerald (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce), and Audrey Smallman (Blackway) with the help of his mother-in-law, who is played by none other than legendary bombshell Raquel Welch.

When his mother-in-law announces that she’s decided to move away, Ricky is faced with the prospect of raising his three girls on his own. However, the girls have a plan of their own as they conspire to get their father back in the dating scene.
The series began shooting on January 17 and will continue until April 6.

Similarly, the cast for the TV murder mystery series Somewhere Between also hadn’t been revealed when we first mentioned it.
The series, based on a Korean format, focuses on a news producer and mother Laura Price, played by Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol) who somehow knows her daughter is going to be murdered. She’s not sure why or who will kill her, but knows where, when, and how.
Laura devotes herself to keeping her daughter safe, but somehow her best efforts can’t seem to keep her daughter out of harm’s way.
