Film Venue Spotlight: Steveston
Film Venue Spotlight: Steveston
TV and movie magic lie just an hour’s transit away from the heart of downtown Vancouver in the quaint fishing village of Steveston. If you’re a fan of Disney/ABC’sOnce Upon a Time, head here to explore the real Storybrooke; there are plenty of places to score selfies outside recognizable haunts like Storybrooke Coffee Co. and Granny’s Diner. Pick up a free walking map from the Visitor Centre and take a self-guided tour – and don’t forget to buy Snow White fudge and Evil Queen Apples from the Candy Dish as takeaway souvenirs!
Sharp-eyed sci-fi fans may spot some spookier connections in Steveston: the village was used as a location for The X-Files episodes “Gender Bender” and “Miracle Man”, and it also played a cameo in Stargate SG-1’s “Nightwalkers” episode as Steveston, Oregon. (Insider intel: it took the crew a full 10 hours to change Steveston into Storybrooke!)
